What’s new for 2018?

Posted by Tammy Clarke-Organ on

Much like the fashion world, interior design also has its share of big events showcasing what’s new and what’s hot. Shows like the High Point Furniture Market, Toronto Furniture Show, Interior Design Show, and Toronto Gift Fair are some of our favourite ways to keep up with the trends while bringing you the most exciting new products.

Colour palettes trending in the fashion world almost always follow suit in interior design, and this year is no exception:

PINK is everywhere….in softer, more sophisticated hues that can work across many different styles - traditional, modern, rustic or shabby chic.

It should come as no surprise that we LOVE pink (after all, fuchsia is our colour), but there are many reasons to love this year’s pinks:

It cozies up a neutral palette - try adding a blush coloured knit throw for instant casual elegance.

Pink can be used with both cool and warm tones, pairing well with whites, greys and creams. It also layers beautifully with other pastels such as mint, soft blue or aqua.

If you’re looking for a more classic colour palette, navy is also big right now. A timeless colour, navy adds depth and richness to any room. Pair navy with creams and greys, silvers or golds or, better still, BOTH silver and gold.

Mixed metals are also BIG this year. While it used to be a interior design ‘no-no’, mixing metals is actually a great way to add visual interest to your space.

Simply decide on a prominent metal (say silver), then accent with one or two secondary ones (like gold, copper or bronze) and you’ve got the look.  The trick is to avoid using too many (no more than three), and to consider using different metal textures to add depth. Hammered, matte, shiny, gold, silver, bronze…choosing the right balance is all part of the fun.

Drop in to the store any time to see what's new this spring - we'd be delighted to help you create looks you love in your space!
